American Quilters Through The Years

Presented by Marianne Fons of Fons & Porter

In this entertaining and informative slide program, Marianne Fons
examines the motivations of American quilters from 1776 to the
present day. Followed by Audience Question and Answer time.

Marianne Fons is founding editor of Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting
magazine, which has a paid circulation of over 320,000, which
makes it the most widely-circulated quilting magazine in the world.
She is co-host of the popular Public Television series of the same
name. With Liz Porter, Marianne has co-authored many best-selling
quilting books, including
Quilter’s Complete Guide, which has sold
over a half a million copies.

On her own, Marianne was Iowa winner of the 1986 Great American
Quilt Contest with her “Lady Liberty Medallion Quilt”. Her “World
Peace” quilt won Best Overall Workmanship at the first Quilt Expo
Europa contest in Salzburg, Austria in 1988.

This is a benefit for Marianne’s sister-in-law, Valerie Fons, who lived in the Lansing area for several years.
